Failure may be a stepping stone to success!!
Failure may be a stepping stone to success!!
Lessons learnt is one of the oldest and most successful ways of ensuring things are improved for good! However one can never have lessons learnt when the failures weren’t part of the process. And hence the topic of today is let the young minds know the importance of failing and then learning from them.
Many of us would sometimes sit and think or maybe discuss their errors only realise that these errors are now lessons for future references andcan become lessons! Many people encourage such conversations infact many corporate are in favour of having such meetings! Failure may be a stepping stone to success, but the fact is everyone wants to skirt around that stone!Having an openness to talk about failure is always good,we all have an inbuilt resistance to the idea of failure, butwe have to get out of our comfort zone, and make an attempt which seemingly impossible. But its okay to fail and not necessarily one always has to fail, starting with a positive attitude and determination is always nice but also one should be open to talk about his or hers failures. This is applicable in personal or professional life.
When talking about professional life the Line managers may play an important role here, they should be able to encourage an open conversation around failure. At schools, colleges or maybe even at aplayschool the process of failure and facing it starts! So here the teachers play a crucial role if this openness is created at a very young age, it gets very easy in the long run!Try and look out for a mentor even if it is someone in the family, not necessary the person should be a public figure but a person who is self made and have seen ups and downs in career, looking upto a person like this will definitely motivate you and you’ll learn many things from their experiences!!! Therefore don’t search for the flashiest of your relatives but the one who may not be the most successful but has seen all the bad times and still manage to come out it.
Organisations have to encourage their employees to come up with ideas that are not safe, which means that they have to help them cultivate a risk-taking attitude. However this again involves a lot of planning and thinking!Organisations should plan out a dashboard every month where people talk about their failures and how they dealt with it.And while making note of these failures one can also be careful in future and hence not repeat the same mistakes. Also when Organisations are willinglytrying to create anatmosphere of innovation, mistakes are bound to happen, and when encouraging employees to talk about their failures which can be done through one-on-one meetings, the company makes employees feels it is trying to make failures more acceptable.
A famous Author Srijata Bhatnagarwrote a book on Setback Leadership which features stories of 12 leaders. She commentedthe biggest setback for many people she interviewed is that failure set the stage for their biggest growth.Hence it is very necessary to open up and discuss failures boldly and at the same time learn from the mistakes and look forward with full force!!! Since our vast majority of readers are younger students and professionals, it is important you understand that failures are a natural part of progression therefore don’t run away, learn from them and improve!
